Details: A local display honoring America's heritage and its military personnel is presently being coordinated by the Mexico VFW Post 3772. Flags purchased by individuals in honor of living and deceased military veterans will be displayed along the driveway at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Mexico. Flags will be flown (for 3 days) during Memorial Day, July 4th & Veteran's Day. A one time fee of $150 includes a 4x6 American Flag, set-up and engraved plate containing up to 4 lines of information about the honoree. This hilarious 2-act comedy is about Texas' third smallest town, where the Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. The eclectic band of citizens that make up this town is a "withering satire" of life in rural America. It is directed by Karen Laboube and produced by Steve Meyer. Details: The Auxvasse Car Show will be held this year May 17, 2008 on Main Street in downtown Auxvasse. The Auxvasse Lions Club sponsors the car show and this year marks the 21st anniversary of this event, which began in 1087. Registration will be open for 17 classes until 11:00 AM and 3 trophies will be awarded in each class at 1:30 PM. There will be numerous events throughout the day for the whole family to enjoy. A quilt show at United Security Bank, the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby and Ms. Shelly’s Dance class are some of the scheduled events. Details: Residential Household Hazardous Waste Collection in Moniteau County will be held on Saturday, May 17th from 9am to 1pm at the Maintenance Building, 210 North Pacific in Tipton, MO. Event: Prairie Pine Quilt Guld Annual Quilt Show
Location: Mexico, MO - St. John's Lutheran Church
Details: The Prairie Pine Quilt Guild will hold their annual quilt show with over 110 beautiful quilts and quilted items June 2nd through June 7th at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Mexico. The times will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday from 11am to 4pm & Tuesday & Thursday from 11am to 7pm. There will be exhibits showing hand and machine applique, hand and machine piecing and hand and machine quilting. A high tea will be served on Tuesday, June 3 and a luncheon on Thursday, June 5. Both of these events are by reservation only and tickets are available at Mexico Sewing Center (Singer) 573-581-2047. Classes on quilting techniques will be held on Wednesday and Friday. Details: 2008 Relay For Life of Macon County at the Macon County R-1 School Front Lawn June 28-29, 2008 6:00pm - 6:00am June 28-29, 2008 6:00pm - 6:00am Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones and raise money for the fight against cancer. Volunteers are needed to organize and recruit teams, seek community support, coordinate logistics, find refreshments and prizes, plan entertainment and lend their support in any way.
