TROY RENNER

Troy is a native Missourian, born in Hannibal and raised in Clarence. He remembers listening to his dad’s old Zenith radio to the likes of the Grand Ole Opry on WSM in Nashville, Cardinal baseball on KMOX in St. Louis as well as 61 Country in Kansas City. “I would sit in my room for hours and listen to some of the old favorites – Jack Buck, Jack Carney, Ralph Emery and the like,” he says.

He graduated from South Shelby High School in 1982 and attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville (now Truman State University). He bounced around as an undecided major for a year and a half and strongly considered the science field before something steered him towards a journalism career, something blonde.

He graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications.

He took his college experience (he worked at the campus AM radio station) and put it to real world use. He joined KIRX In Kirksville in 1985 and then joined KWWR in March of 1999.

“I am very fortunate to have spent my entire career in radio serving my home area of northeast Missouri,” he said.

Outside of radio, “The Renner” is usually busy. He has been involved in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in several counties (including Audrain) since 1996. His hobbies include travel, photography, Texas Hold ‘Em (coming soon to a charity tournament near you), or just chilling out with his cat, “Patches.”
